MVP Announces Mega Women’s Boxing Event
Most Valuable Promotions has locked in MVPW-07 for Sunday, November 8 at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, live on ESPN. The poster is loaded: four championship fights, two champions moving up in weight, and a main event that actually asks something new of both women. 
Elif Nur Turhan (14-0, 8 KOs) defends her IBF lightweight title against Dallas’ own Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (18-1, 7 KOs). Baumgardner, the unified WBA, WBO and IBF junior lightweight champion, is stepping up to 135 pounds to chase two-division gold. They’ll do it over 10 rounds of three minutes — the format Baumgardner has been pushing for years, and the first time Turhan has fought those rules as a pro. 
That’s the hook. Turhan is the unbeaten puncher who took the IBF belt by stopping Olympic gold medalist Beatriz Ferreira. Baumgardner is the home fighter with the pedigree, the power, and a recent 10x3 win over Bo Mi Re Shin. If she wins, she sits in the same division as Caroline Dubois. If Turhan wins, she just beat one of the faces of the sport in her first MVP fight.
The co-main is another step-up. Tiara Brown (21-0, 11 KOs) puts the WBC featherweight title on the line at 126 against Ellie Scotney (12-0), the former undisputed junior featherweight champion. Scotney vacated 122 to hunt a second world title. Brown is the veteran who already beat Skye Nicolson for that belt and has defended it. Neither woman is here to keep it cute. 
The rest of the championship block:
• Skye Nicolson (16-1, 3 KOs) vs Miyo Yoshida (19-5, 1 KO) for the WBC title at 122. This is the rematch that got postponed when Nicolson pulled out injured. Now it’s her MVP debut.
• Ramla Ali (11-2, 3 KOs) vs undefeated Mikiah Kreps (11-0, 3 KOs) for the unified WBO and IBF junior featherweight titles at 122.
Four belts on one ESPN card in Texas is a statement from MVP’s women’s roster. Baumgardner called it her backyard. Turhan called it an all-out war. Both sound right.
